New York Monday #32 - Park Benches: Before and After
I apologize to anyone who stopped by on last Monday, expecting New York Monday photos and found nothing. I wasn't able to post anything that day.
Here are some before and after photos of a bench I'd pass daily in the park. The overgrown leaves took over the bench. I used to be a little scared to walk by because I wasn't sure if anything would come out from the foliage. Yes, I know. I have an active imagination.
Just recently they have cut the leaves and everything is back to normal. Now, I sort of miss the out-of-control weeds. It gave the bench an interesting look.
In the last set of photos, I found the dedicated benches touching and nice. I have no idea about the people. May they rest in peace.
Have a great week!
Paz

Quiet. I enjoy your photo. It is so incredible how looking through the eye of a camera changes our world.
Thank you.
I agree, great photographs Paz!
I love your New York pictures. If I was younger and had more money, I'd love to live there. Now I guess I'm hopelessly settled here, plus the beautiful house I have here would cost millions there!
I love your photos, Paz. There's always something interesting, charming, or beautiful to see through your camera's eye. :D
An active imagination, LOL. That's a good one. Comparable to this: Recently an elderly friend of mine and I were talking about old 1940's jungle movies we'd seen as kids in which there was always a scene of someone getting caught in quicksand. Horrible! We were scared to death of ever running into quicksand--in Brooklyn!
What's that on the bench in the 5th pic?
I kind of like the overgrown bench, even though I have a similarly over-active imagination! What a touching story you told with your weekend herb blogging, Paz. Thanks for sharing, and for the reminder to remember we take some things for granted. I hope your foot feels a bit better!!
Hi Tanna: Glad you like the pics. Interestingly enough, I took them during one of the most quiet times of the day -- early morning aroun 5:30a.m. The scene is very different later on in the day.
Hi Pam and thanks!
Hi Kalyn: You're right, your house would cost millions here AND your garden would be priceless. ;-)
Hi Kathleen: Thanks! LOL! I love the story of keeping watch of the quicksand -- in Brooklyn! Too funny!
Hi Pat: It's a pigeon. If you click on the photo you'll see it better.
Hi Michelle: There's something to that overgrown bench. I'm going to miss it. Thanks for the good wishes for my ankle. I hope to be up and about soon.
Paz
Once again, your Monday photos have me humming a tune. A rather nice one. "Old Friends," by Simon and Garfunkel. If I'm correct, I think the first lines go something like, "Old Friends, sat on their park bench like bookends..." I love these photos. There's something sweet and poetic about them. m
I agree with Mari - there is something very poetic about park benches, full or empty. I saw one on my California journey that said "Rest and be thankful."
I don't think that you have an over active imagination - just something called common sense.
Hey there Mari: I love the way you come up with tunes for the photos. You know I'm going to put it up. Right!? ;-)
Hi Janice: I love that quote!
Hi Neil: Thank you! A gal can never be too careful!
Have a good one, all!
Paz
That's a nice green bench! I like those pictures a lot as they have a certain "homely" feeling/atmosphere to them...
Hi Rosa!
