Weekend Dog Blogging #10 - Garlic and Cheddar Dog Biscuits

Image hosted by Photobucket.com

Here are mother and daughter, Menina and Cadeau, two African dogs in New York City always looking for adventure.

Hobbies: Eating, sleeping, barking. Not necessarily in that order.

Cadeau wants me to thank all of her friends – Gino & Angelica, Max & Tattum, Oceane & Cindy, and Vlad & Marilyn - everyone who sent their well wishes when she had her surgery.

“That’s why I feel much better,” she says.

In celebration of her recovery, here some Garlic and Cheddar Dog Biscuits to share with everyone who participates in WDB. The recipe is from Joe of Culinary in the Desert. Thanks Joe! These are doggy delicious!

Paz

Ed. note: By the way, these biscuits are human edible. They're quite healthy, as they have no sugar included. You can go ahead and take a bite. Visit Sweetnicks to see the roundup of WDB #10 posts.

Garlic and Cheddar Dog Biscuits

Garlic and Cheddar Dog Biscuits

3 cups whole wheat flour

2 teaspoons garlic powder

1/2 cup vegetable oil

1 cup shredded cheddar cheese, or whatever you have on hand

1 large egg, beaten

1 cup skim milk

Preheat oven to 400ºF

Combine flour and garlic powder in a large mixing bowl. Make a well in the center and add remaining ingredients gradually, stirring until well blended.

Knead dough on a floured surface 3-4 minutes.

Roll dough to 1/4 inch thick and cut into your favorite shapes. Place on a lightly greased baking sheet. Bake 15-18 minutes until golden brown.

Cool on wire rack and let the doggies enjoy!

Oceane says to Cadeau she's welcome. Oce is also happy that Cadeau's well now.
Nice biscuits by the way, well I'm thinking of Oce as I wouldn't eat them of course.

Hi Menina and Cadeau and welcome to weekend dog blogging !!! We are all so happy that Cadeau is better now (so I think the same is with her Mom as well, or shall I say MOMS -plural ? - PAZ and Menina). The doggie biscuits look great and I am sure that Gino would like them too, but as Tattum has told about Max he is not really jealous when he gets hard bread "only" which he adores. I love the pic showing Menina (and Cadeau) trying the biscuits and Menina looks as if she were saying "I warn you, do NOT take away this biscuit again....!" A big kiss to you all from gino and mom

Hi Max and Tattum: Thanks for your message. I also give the dogs dry bread too and they love it! ;-)

Hi Cindy: LOL! You could have a bite of the biscuit as it is human edible. Check out the ingredients. The only thing is that it's not sweet. Healthy, huh? ;-)

Hi Gia: I do miss seeing your dog, but it's good that you've been able to do some weekend getaways.

Hi Angelika: Thanks for the welcome! Yes, Menina does have that look on her face of protection for her dog biscuit but actually most of the time Cadeau ends up taking her food away from her and she lets her. She such a good an patient mom. ;-)

Ah, your two pot cleaners. I'm confused as to whether I should make these for my two or the dinner guests.

Hi Ed: Welcome! Yes, my pot and plate cleaners. LOL! While these Garlic and Cheddar Biscuits are probably fine enough to serve to dinner guests, I think they'd appreciate more the Jam Dotted Shortbread Cookies above in Monday's post (unless the guests are real health nuts). ;-)
